How can I reach a counselor after hours?
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For non-life-threatening emergencies, contact 988 24/7 crisis line for support.
What should I expect when I call the crisis line?
The crisis line is available 24/7. You will be asked questions about your safety, feelings, social situation, and if you have thoughts of suicide.
Can I schedule an emergency appointment?
When you call the crisis line, a trained counselor will listen to your concerns, provide emotional support, and guide you through your options for immediate help.
What resources are available for ongoing support?
Yes, we offer emergency appointments for urgent situations. Please call our office to discuss your needs and availability.
Is there a cost for using the crisis line?
The crisis lifeline can provide a range of resources. They will work with you to create a plan to address your immediate needs. Turn The Corner Counseling encourages you to reach out to your therapist to assist with any coordination of services, answer questions, and schedule a follow-up appointment as needed.
How can I help a friend who is struggling?
The crisis line is a free service available to anyone in need of immediate mental health support. If you are overwhelmed with a person’s distress, try to stay calm and let them know trained crisis counselors are available through 988. It’s important to be sensitive to their needs and to avoid making assumptions about their situation. Create a judgment-free zone where they can talk freely without fear of judgment. Encourage them to reach out for on-going professional help. Be mindful of your limits, seek help from your friend’s loved ones, and do not over tax yourself
